Beeswax Food Wraps

Level 3 Social Science AO: Understand how people make decisions about access to and use of resources.

As a way of reducing our own plastic use we are going to be making beeswax food wraps to use in our lunchboxes. They smell delicious!! We are using the ironing method to make these.

  1. Kia ora Ruma Rima,
Your beeswax wraps look great! I was at Paihia School in the Bay of Islands last week and they were making beeswax wraps to. They had melted the beeswax in an electric frypan (with an adult) and then the adult lay the fabric in the electric frypan for seconds and then pulled it out and the students held it carefully while it dripped dry - again this only took seconds! It is fantastic that so many students are starting to think about using less plastic in lunchboxes. We definitely need to make changes. Have you tried your beeswax wraps yet? What are your thoughts?

I loved this because you are keeping the environment clean. You taught me to put rubbish in the bin straight away. How come you forgot to put something at the end of the post.

  14. Hi Kareem thank you for your comment. I loved doing the beeswax wraps. I haven't used my wrap yet but I'm sure I will use it a lot. You should show your teacher the video about the beeswax because it is a lot of fun. From Billie.

They service our own school hive too - It has the best honey I have ever tasted! They have loads of information about Bees and Bee bi-products on their Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/Hermanshivehire/ The'd be sure to answer any questions that you have I'm sure!

    2. Hi Milla thank you for the comment, you can actually put food in the beeswax food wrap because it has natural bacteria in it. We made food wraps to help save our environment from plastics.
