Toki Film Festival

Toki Film Festival Review

 Kia Ora Awahono School,

Actors:Jayden, Harrison

I am Luke from Karoro School, now I'm going to do a film review, and the one that I’ll be reviewing is The Farm, I really liked the lake and the end part because the lake had a good timed sound effect, the splash, and the ending was funny because a cow licked someone's hand. The sound quality from the mics was good too. It wasn’t bussing from the wind. Overall it was really well done!

Paragrey rap. By: Diana, Antonia and Eva from St Patrick's.

Hello St Patrick's School my name is Atawhai, and I personally think that this was a great rap. The rap was really catchy and the scenery was great, it showed a lot of great shots of Greymouth and the special effects were really good. The words were repeating, so were the images, and that made it sound and look really good. It really represented the theme, OUR PLACE, and of course our place is here in Greymouth. Well done!👍

 Kids Country Calendar Review

Hi, my name is Harper and I go to Karoro School. I liked this movie best because it was full of cows! The cows were absolutely great actors! The baby cows were all so cute. I love how you filmed the cows being milked and the big machine swirling all the milk around. The car driving to the farm at the start and the car driving away at the end was really clever. But when the farmer was saying welcome you couldn’t hear him very well. Putting the Country Calendar music on at the start gained lots of interest. Your film really represented our place.

Book Review by Harper

Book Report

Title: Roald Dahls Revolting Rhymes
Author: Roald Dahl
Illustrator: Quentin Blake
What Made Me Read It: I love Roald Dahl’s books, they’re always amazingly funny. So when I saw this book I decided to give it a go.
What It Is About: This book has all your favorite fairytales in it. Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. Each story is presented as a very long and funny rhyme. Here is a small extract from Goldilocks and the Three Bears:

“This famous wicked little tale
Should never have been put on sale.
It is a mystery to me
Why loving parents cannot see
That this is actually a book
About a brazen little crook.”
Had the chance I wouldn’t fail
To clap young Goldilocks in jail.
Now imagine how you’d feel
If you had cooked a lovely meal,
Delicious porridge, steaming hot,
Fresh coffee in the coffee-pot,
With maybe toast and marmalade,
The table beautifully laid,
One place for you and one for dad,
Another for your little lad.
Then dad cries, ‘Golly-gosh! Gee-whizz!
‘Oh cripes! How hot this porridge is!’’

To find out what happens next, read Roald Dahls Revolting Rhymes!

Division Bookwork by Lucy

W.A.L.T understand division. Division is in the family of facts, and can also be made into multiplication,
E.G.... 6÷7 in the same as 7x_=6.
This is the way I think that division is a-lot easier to do.

Animation by Lucy

Today we learnt how to do Animation, I, for one Really enjoyed it, and this is how we did it...

  • Go to Explore and find a garden background,
  • Find a blue cartoon butterfly on Explore,
  • Put the butterfly on one side of the slide,
  • Duplicate the slide by tapping the slide that your on with two fingers, move the blue butterfly forward a really small bit, do this repeatedly,
  • Add another character from Explore on slide 1 and Ctrl+C it,
  • Go to slide 2 and press Ctrl+V, move your other character a small bit,
  • Do this repeatedly.
Maybe you could have a go sometime!😊😀

Animation by Atawhai

W.A.L.T make animation on slides.

  • We typed in the picture we wanted and put png on the end so the background was not see - able.
  • We had to move it slowly other wise it looked kind of bad.
  • We also had to duplicate the slides.        I really enjoyed this. It might take up some time but the results at the end are great!  THANKS to Mrs Minehan.

Animation by Seth

WALT make animations on a slide. First use PNG to get a transparent background.be patient. Embed it onto our blog change the html to make it move on our blog. This was easy for me. You should give it a try some time. This may be hard for you but it's a lot of fun.

The Incredible Jumping Spider Report by Emma

Jumping spiders are a living insect. They are invertebrates, which means that they have no backbone. Jumping spiders are solitary witch means that they don’t work together. They can live for three whole years. There are many different types of jumping spiders all over the world.

 Habitat
Jumping spiders live in a web made out of their shiny silk but they don’t catch their food there. Some even live in houses in cracks or under old floor boards. You have to be careful where you step because if you have wooden tiles they blend in very well.

 Special features
Jumping Spiders make their houses with their own silk. They are not venomous. They are great dancers but all they do is wave their arms in the air. They hunt their prey on their fuzzy little feet. Their eyesight is very good because they have six eyes on their head they can see in every direction. They’re great at disguising when a predator is near.

 Food and Sleep
The jumping spider eats one main thing which is other insects. The way they do it is, they pounce on their prey from behind then use their strong jaws to eat it.

 Distance and Speed
The jumping spider is very speedy because it can jump about 10cm each jump, which is a lot for a little spider. If you try to catch one you have a high chance of it escaping your hand.

Predators
Birds are one of the predators to the jumping spider because they try and eat them. They protect themselves by mimicking another animal that is a predator of their predator.

 The importance of jumping spiders
Jumping spiders are very important because they pounce on other annoying insects and eat them. Without them we would have a lot of bad insects. Unfortunately they eat good ones too.

As you can see the Jumping spider is an amazing little insect.

Small World By Molly

AO Integrate sources of information, processes, and strategies with developing confidence to identify, form, and express ideas I am learning to include visual information in my writing including images, graphs and charts. I am learning to revise and rework my writing for clarity, impact and purpose. I am learning to support my main ideas with important details.

 Small World

It is a lovely hot sunny day at Limestone beach. Ahhhh there is a red and white checkered blanket falling on top of me. I thought this was the end of the world. Then I felt a big heavy squishy lump sit next to me. Sorry I forgot to introduce myself I am Sammy the Sandfly. Any way let's get on with the story. Then I smelt the stinkiest smell it was Marmite. I quickly flew away. When the stinky beast had finished his smelly sandwich I crawled up to his ankles and bit them. I quietly cackled moo ha ha ha ha. Oh No he had found me. I stared right into his eyes. He tried to swat me but I dodged him. Then I flew into the dark and gloomy shade under a palm tree. As the clouds came over I went to a lady in her bikini. I flew into her sunburnt thighs and stuck my fangs into her. As she got out of the sea she rapped her sandy towel around her. She hadn't noticed the bit until she started to dry her legs. She screamed and started to rapidly scratch her leg. She swatted me while I was in the air. I was in pain I fell to the ground. I'm dying. THE END!!

Respect Poster Cybersmart

WALT use the word art tool to make a poster about RESPECT. Then we will blog about the process.
We had to use a border and border dash.We had to use Word Art and the fill in colour to make our words stand out. We used fonts colours and we got to add a background in once we had added in all the words related to Respect we knew. By Jessica

WALT use the word art tool to make a poster about RESPECT.

It was great watching the sesame street video and it gave me some ideas for words for my poster! First we went onto Google Drive, then we created a new Google Drawing, next we went to insert Word art, and last, we changed the colour and went to the box next to highlight, and changed the size of the highlight. By Zade
Are there any more words that you think I could add in to show respect?

WALT use the word art tool to make a poster about RESPECT. Then we will blog about the process.
For my Respect poster I went on to Word Art and it would take you to a little box and you would spell your word in there and it would come up like mine but blank. To get the colours you would  have to go into the painting box and it would come up with colours. You would have to choose a colour. then you  press the pencil and it comes out with the outline but to get the dots you have to go to border dash and then press the seven dots and then it will come up like mine.                              When you're finished with that you can go in to explore and type up backgrounds and pick the one    that suits all the other colours. After you have your backgrounds you go into arrange, order, and      send to back then your officially done. By Libbie
